Osteria

simple - charming - good

Osteria San Giorgio,

the place to be around the corner

What actually is an osteria?
An osteria focuses on simple but cosy furnishings and selected local cuisine with a simple, good selection of wines. The inn around the corner where you can enjoy good regional cuisine.

The San Giorgio was originally a stable which was converted into a bakery and in the 40 years into a café-bar where the locals met for an espresso or an after-work boccalino. Over time, the café-bar became an osteria. The name San Giorgio comes from Saint San Giorgio, who protects the church and the neighbourhood.

Dishes

and specialities

Our specialities are risotto with red Ticino merlot and luganighetta served in the caquelon, fritto misto del lago (fried lake fish) and in summer our marinated spare ribs (puntine). In winter we serve the San Giorgio Ticino cheese fondue with Valle Maggia pepper, fondue chinoise and old Ticino dishes such as cazzöla.

We pay attention to regional, fresh and sustainable products. We change our menu regularly according to the season.
