Osteria

San Giorgio

The Osteria San Giorgio is located in the Nucleo, the old village centre of Losone. Losone itself is divided into three quarters: San Lorenzo, San Rocco and San Giorgio.
Therefore the name of our pension with 12 guest rooms, a flat and restuarant (osteria). We describe ourselves as uncomplicated, charming and good. Our San Giorgio is the inn around the corner. We want you to spend unforgettable hours with us, discover Ticino and enjoy the “dolce far niente” with good food and a glass of wine.

We hope to see you soon at inn around the corner and hope you enjoy our website.

Sonja Frey and team.

Your hostess

I am the managing director and owner of Sonti Sagl and run the two businesses Hotel Garni Tiziana and San Giorgio.
I have lived in Ticino for many years, but I was born in Aargau. When I came to Ticino for the first time, I knew I would stay here, this is my home. I saw: palm trees, mountains, sun and lake – a very special mix that you can only find here in Switzerland.
For me, hospitality is a passion that you carry in your heart and I try to convey it in a natural and friendly way.
How did I come to San Giorgio? My grandmother had a restaurant in Aargau and when I was little I often helped. When I came to the San Giorgio, it felt like back then.
I started my journey in the hotel and restaurant business when I was 19 in Pontresina and after that I couldn’t get away from this fascinating world.

Discover Ticino

There is a lot to discover in Switzerland’s sunniest region and it never gets boring, no matter what time of year it is. The best thing is that you can do this without a car. With the Ticino Ticket, which you receive free of charge as a guest, you can travel free of charge by bus and train throughout the canton of Ticino. You also benefit from reductions for mountain railways, boats, museums, bathing establishments, etc.

Winter in Ticino is a quiet, very sunny time. We don’t know fog here and often drink capuccino on the shore of Lake Maggiore, admiring the glittering lake, the blue sky, the snow-covered mountain peaks and the palm trees on the lakeshore.

In spring, the mild climate entices you to stroll in picturesque Ascona or along the lakeside promenade in Locarno. Hiking and cycling are already very popular then.

In summer, our region shows its best side and there are countless things to see, discover and of course countless opportunities to jump into the cool water. Be it in the lake, in the Maggia or in the Valle Verzasca.

In autumn you can collect chestnuts. The Valle Maggia, Valle Verzasca, Onsernone and Centovalli valleys are an absolute must, whatever the season.

Ticino also has a lot to offer culturally. There are many interesting museums and visits such as: a trip back in time to discover the Visconti Castle in Locarno through virtual reality!
